At the police station, Surjan's superior advises him against reporting his incredible story. Surjan agrees to write in the official report that Armaan Kapoor's death was an accident. He returns to the riverside place where he used to meet Rosie and uncovers her remains where Shashi had hidden her body. It was loosely adapted from the novel Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat. The film stars Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Omi Vaidya, Parikshit Sahni and Boman Irani.<br /><br />Upon release, the film broke all opening box office records in India. It was the highest-grossing film in its opening weekend in India and had the highest opening day collections for a Bollywood film. It also held the record for highest net collections in the first week for a Bollywood film. It also became one of the few Indian films to become a major success in East Asian markets such as China, eventually bringing its overseas total to more than US$ 65 million—the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time in overseas markets, before being overtaken by Dhoom 3 (2013). It was expected to be the first Indian film to be officially released on YouTube, within 12 weeks of releasing in theatres on 25 March 2010. It was officially released on YouTube in May 2012 but its access has since been restricted. The film also went on to win many awards, winning six Filmfare Awards including best film and best director, ten Star Screen Awards and sixteen IIFA awards. "3 Idiots" is ranked #124 in IMDB's top 250 world movies and also has an IMDB rating of 8.5.<br /><br />The film is distinctive for featuring real inventions by little-known people in India's backyards. The brains behind the innovations were Remya Jose, a student from Kerala, who created the exercise-bicycle/washing-machine; Mohammad Idris, a barber from Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh, who invented a bicycle-powered horse clipper; and Jahangir Painter, a painter from Maharashtra, who made the scooter-powered flour mill. This film was remade in Tamil as Nanban (2012) which also received critical praise and commercial success. It has also been announced that there will be a Chinese remake of the film produced by Stephen Chow and that there are plans for a Hollywood remake produced in the United States<br /><br /><br /><br />Farhan Qureshi (R. Madhavan) narrates the misadventures he had with his friends, Raju Rastogi (Sharman Joshi), and Ranchoddas "Rancho" Shamaldas Chanchad (Aamir Khan), who were all students at the Imperial College of Engineering, one of the best colleges in India. Farhan wants to become a wildlife photographer, but is pursuing an engineering degree to appease his father. Raju works towards the degree because he needs to improve his family's financial situation, and Rancho is unique in actually taking joy in building machines. Rancho incurs the wrath of college's dean, Professor Viru Sahastrabuddhe a.k.a. 'Virus' (Boman Irani), by giving creative and unorthodox answers in class and living by the philosophy that one should pursue excellence, not success, as success will happen if excellence is achieved. Rancho later blames the rote-learning mentality promoted by the institution for the suicide of fellow student Joy Lobo.<br /><br />Virus is described as a real hardass - so hard, in fact, that he caused his son's suicide by his pressure, and cares nothing about it. He has trained himself to write simultaneously with both hands, and has a 7.5-minute power nap every day at the same time, during which his servant shaves him.<br /><br />Rancho's signature motto is "All is well", a chant used for the theme song of the movie, and which has magical effects at several plot points.<br /><br />Virus's model student is Chatur Ramalingam (Omi Vaidya), not-so-affectionately known as "Silencer" for his silent but malodorous farts. Chatur impresses his professors by excelling at rote recitation. When given a chance to present a speech praising Professor Sahastrabuddhe (Virus) before the college faculty and donors, he chooses to present the speech in formal Hindi, despite his limited fluency in the language; he overcomes this by having a librarian write the speech, which he memorizes without comprehension. Rancho modifies the written speech by replacing praise with obscenity; Chatur obliviously memorizes and delivers the modified speech. Rancho is thus able to humiliate Chatur while simultaneously demonstrating to Raju and Farhan the limitations of learning by rote.<br /><br />Meanwhile, Rancho falls in love with Virus' daughter Pia (Kareena Kapoor), a doctor, whom the trio meet when they gatecrash a wedding, unaware that the bride is Virus's other daughter, Mona (Mona Singh). Rancho is horrified to find that Pia is engaged to a mindless and money-mad man, Suhas (Olivier Sanjay Lafont), and offers to demonstrate to her that her fiancé only cares about the value of things. "He'll tell you how much his shoes cost himself," he promises. He spills mint sauce on Suhas' shoes due to which he yells, "My $300 shoes! Italian leather!" wails the fiancé.<br /><br />The trio get up to all kinds of boyish japes, usually in tit-for-tat reactive revenge for some action of the disciplinarian Virus. Finally, Farhan and Raju pee on the door of his house but Virus sees Raju and the next day he calls Raju to his office. Virus tells Raju to type a letter to his parents informing them about his termination from college and unable to handle it Raju commits suicide by jumping from the window. He is taken to hospital and due to his injuries he can hear people but cannot respond or move his body. Finally Raju recovers and realizes that he has always been afraid with the challenges of his life. Raju goes for a job interview which every engineering student has to do for their future job before graduating. He eventually gets accepted but virus gets furious when he discovers this and in revenge Virus writes the questions for Raju's final exam so that Raju will fail, and cannot graduate. Meanwhile Farhan is convinced by Rancho to go tell his dad what he really wants to be is a wildlife photographer. Therefore Farhan goes to his father, Mr. Qureshi (Pareekshit Sahani)and is able to convince him. Fearing that Raju will not get the job he needs so that his sister can marry and his crippled father be supported, Rancho and Farhan steal the questions, but they are caught later and Virus sentences them to expulsion.<br /><br />Virus's daughter Pia reveals that she gave the keys of his office to Rancho and Farhan so they can steal the questions. When virus asked her the reason then Pia angrily tells him he was responsible for the death of her brother. Her brother had wanted to pursue literature and become a writer; however, under Virus' insistence he failed the ICE exam three times and committed suicide, unable to bear the pressure placed on him by his father – who has always thought his death an accident.<br /><br />The three earn a reprieve when Virus' pregnant elder daughter Mona goes into emergency labour; as Virus tries to rush her to hospital a heavy storm cuts electricity. Pia, the only person with medical expertise, has left the house and is unable to return owing to the thunderstorm. Rancho and his friends rush Mona into the college common room where they deliver the baby via Voice over IP to Pia, during which Rancho restores power using car batteries and a power inverter he has devised himself to convert a vacuum cleaner as a suction device.<br /><br />After the baby is apparently stillborn, Rancho resuscitates it by using his signature quote "All is well" and the apparently moribund baby responds and wakes. In gratitude Virus allows the trio to take their final exams. Rancho attains the top ranking in the institution and is awarded Virus's prize pen, retained for an especially-capable student.<br /><br />But the trio have discovered a mystery - Rancho is not Rancho: another man with the same name now has credit for his study and exams.<br /><br />Ten years later, Rancho has vanished without trace. In their search for him, Raju and Farhan take Pia from the middle of her wedding to Suhas, and drive her to Ladakh, where they see inventions resembling those of Rancho at a creative village school. Accompanying them is Chatur, who has managed to freeload onto Raju and Farhan over the course of their journey. The four find the man behind the distinctive inventions, who turns out to be Rancho. When they ask him to reveal his real name, he identifies himself as Phunsukh Wangdu, Chatur's prospective business partner and a world-famous, reclusive scientist. Upon learning this, Chatur is horrified and begs Phunsukh/Rancho to establish the business relationship – just after he had forced him to sign a declaration of defeat and attempted to humiliate him, apparently to no effect.<br /><br />The film ends with Chatur chasing Rancho and his friends and this scene resembles the philosophy of Rancho that "Excellence ke pichhe bhaago, kaamyaabi jhag maar ke pichhe aayegi" (Run for the 'Excellence' and 'Success' will anyhow chase you).<br /><br /><br />Cast<br /><br />    Aamir Khan as Ranchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad/Chhote/Rancho/Phunsukh Wangdu – One of a group of three friends in the university. He went missing after graduation and his two friends traveled across India looking for him, while telling stories of their time in engineering college together. Rancho, as a student, was intelligent and had a brilliant personal philosophy. He rallied against unjust systems of teaching. That’s surely a reason for the actor’s interest in playing Sanjay, in the remake of AR Murugadoss’ Tamil potboiler-blockbuster Ghajini. (The latter, in turn, took its cues from Memento, retaining the short-term memory loss gimmick as the basis for a fairly linear revenge thriller and jettisoning the rest – not just the ellipses and the narrative circumlocutions but also the nagging enquiries into the fundamental human desire to get even.)<br /><br />But there’s more to this decision than just a star’s vanity. There’s also an actor’s opportunity to play the kind of hero practically no one, with the possible exception of Mohit Ahlawat in James, plays anymore. Sanjay is the sort of morally uncomplicated superbeing from what Hindi masala movies used to be (and what Tamil masala movies still are) – a deva, so to speak, to the villain’s asura. (Pradeep Rawat endows this villain with a suitably demonic disposition.) It’s the whole retro thing, but done straight, without the safety net of ironic detachment – and for a Hindi film audience weaned increasingly on overly civilised leading men, more at home with emotions than explosions, you can sense the attraction of the noble savage.<br /><br />And Sanjay isn’t just a metaphorical savage. He’s a business tycoon who, thanks to a sound-effects enhanced battering on the skull with an iron pipe, lives life in frustrating snatches of fifteen minutes – his mental slate is wiped clean every sixteenth minute – and there are times he appears, quite literally, inhuman. At the film’s beginning, when facing a mirror that reflects merely a physical presence but not a fully formed existential reality, Sanjay’s anguish finds release in a yell that invokes a werewolf serenading a full moon, and towards the end, when he finally locks eyes with the villain who reduced him to this state, his lips part in a feral snarl, held together by little more than flecks of anticipatory foam.<br /><br />Sanjay is a savage whose brute force can twist a man’s neck so it turns a clean 180 degrees, and perhaps fittingly, the first time we catch a glimpse of this hero, in an action sequence, the feline camera flips a clean 180 degrees and lands lightly on its feet to worship his awesomeness. And yet, he won’t employ force to obtain the woman he loves, and even in these gentler moments – detailed in a charming romantic track with Kalpana (Asin) – Sanjay is someone far removed from the present day. The first time the couple clasps hands, it’s almost by accident, and in anticipation of a happy domesticity as man and woman enter the house they hope to make their home. Sanjay’s savagery is rivalled only by his chivalry.<br /><br />So, on one level, you can see why the prospect of playing this old-world hero would leave a modern-day chameleon like Aamir Khan salivating – and my initial expectation was that this famously fastidious actor would put his fastidiousness to good use in overhauling the original thrill machine into a vehicle worthy of him. From what we’ve heard about him and his obsession with his craft, I figured he’d turn the world’s libraries inside out – or, at the very least, cause Google to crash – while researching anterograde amnesia (the fancy-pants term for Sanjay’s condition).<br /><br />I thought he’d figure out a way to explain away the niggling discrepancy of, say, the protagonist apparently thinking in English (which is why the numerous tattoos on his body, which remind him to kill the villain, are all in English), but penning unending journal entries in Hindi. I wondered if, along the way, he’d also tweak the conceit of the hero wielding a Polaroid camera – he takes pictures of people and places so he can recall them after the sixteenth minute, thus giving a new dimension to the term “photographic memory” – to accommodate the infinitely less cumbersome (and mega-memory possessing) digital cameras of today.<br /><br />But more importantly, I was curious if he’d understand that Memento was about short-term memory loss only so much as The Man in the Iron Mask, to invoke another classically themed revenge saga, was about a fellow whose mug was encased in metal – and that the real point of the film was underscored in an early scene at a café where the protagonist is asked what good his avenging is if he won’t remember, fifteen minutes later, that he has avenged himself. We lower ourselves to the level of animals to do the things we cannot do as humans, but what if this debasement couldn’t provide the closure we needed to resume life as humans again?<br /><br />But by the end, only a pale shadow of this latter aspect appears to have trickled into the Hindi version (though, to be fair, Murugadoss didn’t address this at all during his first grapple with the material). Finally in the lion’s den, Sanjay cracks his knuckles and breaks the bones of a horde of henchmen, but soon after his exertions leave his opponents in the dust, he stops cold. He’s forgotten what he was doing there in the first place, and the sight of the heap of bodies around him does nothing to remind him. He’s physiologically possessed by a raging fury but psychologically unable to make shape or sense of it – and this is one of the few moments you see what this film could have become had it been driven by Aamir Khan, the actor.<br /><br />Because mostly otherwise, Ghajini is simply a sleek showcase for Aamir Khan, the star. There is, of course, nothing wrong in a big star wanting to give his faithful audiences the full blast of his big star power – and, quite frankly, that’s the sort of thing that often attracts us to the movies in the first place – but watching the film, I couldn’t help thinking: All this effort, and for this? Had Aamir done Ghajini as a lark, the way he did Fanaa (which, for a while, allowed us bask in the warm wattage of effortless star power, till it turned completely ludicrous), we could have indulgently dismissed it as the kind of trifle even the best of performers has to peddle in order to save himself a seat at the marketplace.<br /><br />The problem with Ghajini, though, is that it takes itself far too seriously for something so fundamentally silly. It’s not content being a big, trashy B-movie (or perhaps a more truthful way of putting it would be that those of us who expect consistently great things from Aamir Khan are unable to look at it as just a big, trashy B-movie). It wants to make us believe we’re watching something better, something greater, something cleverer than what it actually is – and this inflated sense of its own proportion seeps right through to its protagonist’s frame. Sanjay is so strikingly, so aesthetically bulked up, it’s as if he were jointly conceived by Michelangelo and Talwalkars.<br /><br />When it’s just another he-man hero flexing the biceps, when it’s a Mithun Chakraborty or Sunny Deol, this would barely register. But when it’s Aamir Khan, you ask if the short-term memory loss somehow managed to leave untouched the brain cells containing the information about his incredible, multi-machine exercise regime, which would surely span several stretches of fifteen minutes. It’s not that Aamir Khan is beyond masala movies today – if anything, a good actor should be able to do anything while still in his prime – but through his choice of roles and films, he’s become one of our few star-actors of whom we demand more, and when we sense something missing, when the actor adds to the flaws in the film instead of helping us gloss over these gaping holes, we transform into crotchety nitpickers.<br /><br />I suppose those who haven’t seen the Tamil version (or those who have, but are afflicted by, well, you-know-what) would at least have the machinations of the plot or the occasional surprise in a performance to cling on to – but for the rest of us, Ghajini is, scene for scene, moment for moment, practically the same movie, with the same pluses (the romantic portions) and the same minuses (pretty much everything else, including a drearily manipulative subplot about exploited teenage girls).<br /><br />Aamir Khan plays Sanjay almost exactly the way Suriya played this character. Asin may speak a different language here, but otherwise she imports wholesale every single expression from her earlier portrayal of the same part. Jiah Khan, as the medical student who first hinders and later helps Sanjay, is as infuriating a character as her predecessor was. The background score, as in the Tamil version, is so deafening, there are times you wonder if it’s your skull over which an iron pipe has been brought down hard. Even AR Rahman’s best song here (Behka) is positioned at the same point in the story that Harris Jayaraj’s best song (Oru maalai ilaveyil neram) was positioned back there – how’s that for eerily wholesome symmetry?<br /><br />One significant departure from the Tamil version is the climax – they’ve thankfully streamlined it (in other words, the villain has no equally evil twin) and they’ve also shaped the Jiah Khan character to function as an agent of closure. By replicating an earlier moment of loss, Murugadoss is able to squeeze in a couple of effective emotional beats into a segment which was earlier just about choreographed fisticuffs.<br /><br />But the kind of fix there needed to be more of is the replacement of the generic dance item in the second half of the older film with the far more situational (and therefore, far more relevant) Kaise mujhe tum mil gayi, just after Sanjay takes leave of Kalpana and just before you sense something terrible is about to happen. The aching sense of separation – virah, if you want to look at it in old-world terms – is one those things you didn’t know needed to be there till you actually see it there, and the way the song is staged glazes the central love story with a layer of heartfelt sentiment. A few more touches like this one, and this violent tale of revenge might have actually stuck around in some corner of the mind fifteen minutes after stepping out of the theatre.</span></span></b></span></div> </div> </div>

Produced by Mansoor Khan, Aamir Khan, it marks the directional debut of Abbas Tyrewala, the debut of Imran Khan (Aamir Khan's nephew) and Prateik Babbar as actors, and the re-appearance of D'Souza in Hindi cinema. Released on 4 July 2008, the film received positive reviews, and went on to become a Super Hit at the box office. The music is by A. R. Rahman.<br /><br /><br /><br />Story<br /><br />The story begins at an airport, when Jignesh a.k.a. Jiggy(Nirav Mehta), Ravindran a.k.a. Rotlu(Karan Makhija), Sandhya a.k.a. Bombs(Alishka Varde) and Shaleen(Sugandha Garg) offer to tell Mala(Renuka Kunzru), Jiggy's friend & crush, the tale of Jai and Aditi, a love story with joys and sorrows, happiness and heartbreaks, laughter, songs and fights, and...a climax at the airport. Mala is initially uninterested in the story, and hates loves stories in general, but still agrees to listen as the flight carrying the friends they have come to receive is late.<br /><br />Meet Jai Singh Rathore, a.k.a. 'Rats'(Imran Khan), the most non-violent Rajput ever. Meet Aditi Mahant(Genelia D'Souza), a.k.a. ‘Meow‘, a highly aggressive, impulsive girl. She abuses. She scratches (hence the name Meow).But still Jai and Aditi are college-going best buddies. Rotlu, Jiggy, Bombs and Shaleen are also college-mates of Jai & Aditi, and a part of their group. Rotlu loves Aditi and Bombs loves Jai. However, Jai and Aditi are always so busy with each other that they overlook this. Jai and Aditi are perfect for each other. Their friends know this. He saves her, not by fighting but by tricking the two psychos, who always ride horses. Meghna always plays the game of imagination, “What's this?” When Meghna and Jai get close to each other, Rotlu, Jiggy, Bombs and Shaleen are happy for Jai but nobody notices that Aditi was missing Jai's company. Aditi notices changes in Jai's behaviour.<br /><br />Meghna informs Jai that her parents squabble together but cannot stay without each other. She says this is really "cute." Jai visits Meghna's parents. Her father is an alcoholic. Her parents always argue with each other and Jai feels uncomfortable with them. When Jai goes to meet Meghna's parents, he misses Aditi's surprise birthday party. She is hurt by this and acts rudely to Jai when he goes to wish her later that evening.<br /><br />Aditi gets engaged to her father's friend's son, Sushant Modi(Ayaz Khan).She sees in him the macho man she always wanted, however, Sushant is actually a spoilt playboy. Aditi's brother Amit(Prateik Babbar) tries to make her see Sushant's reality. But Aditi thinks that Jai loves Meghna and continues her relationship with Sushant. At Jiggy's birthday bash, Aditi introduces her fiancé. Then everyone decides to dance. Aditi is disturbed because she is jealous seeing Jai with Meghna, and Jai is upset that Aditi is engaged and disturbed. Aditi becomes emotional seeing Jai with Meghna But However in the middle of the dance, Sushant thinks Aditi is crying because she likes him and kisses her. Jai sees this and stops dancing abruptly. While taking Meghna home, she tries to cheer him up, but it just results him in becoming more angry. He shouts at Meghna for acting childishly.<br /><br />Jai realises that Meghna is a girl who runs from the reality and hides in rather stupid refuges. Meghna breaks down, and lets Jai know how she became this way, and why. Meghna shares her dark childhood story of her father(Rajat Kapoor) having an extra-marital affair and her mother, Sheela(Kitu Gidwani) leaving the residence, but later only returning for Meghna's sake. Meghna is hurt when she sees her parents in pain solely on her account. But since there's no other way round, she decides to close her eyes and see things the way she wants, in a happy manner. Therefore, according to her, her parents fight in a very 'cute' manner. All is happy in the way she sees things, and does not want anyone to remove this veil before her eyes until she is ready for it. The next day, to cheer up things, she kids Jai by saying that Aditi is the right girl for him and he should marry her instead. Jai is taken aback when Meghna laughs and apologises, saying that she was only joking, and did not intend to shock Jai. But Jai reveals that there is more truth to the joke than Meghna thinks, and says that he is actually in love with Aditi. Meghna is shattered and leaves with a goodbye kiss. Aditi reveals her feelings for Jai under duress from Sushant, who slaps her on her face, leaving a bruise. Aditi breaks up with him and decides to go to the USA to study film-making at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Jai spots the bruise on Aditi's face and contrary to his usual non-violent nature, he thrashes Sushant for daring to lay a hand on her.<br /><br />Inspector Waghmare(Paresh Rawal), an old enemy of Jai's mother Savitri Rathore(Ratna Pathak), arrests Jai for thrashing Sushant and puts him behind the bars. There, he meets the two psychos,Vinay Singh Rathore a.k.a. Bhaloo(Sohail Khan) and Kuber Singh Rathore a.k.a. Bhageere(Arbaaz Khan), who were harassing Meghna in the club. However, they find out that they are closely related cousins, separated in childhood. They tell him that for a boy to become a man in their Rathore clan, he must complete three conditions: 1.) Thrash someone 2.) Get arrested 3.) Ride a horse. They tell him that his father was a brave man and fought heroically with his enemies but died while doing so. Jai realizes that his mother had lied to him by claiming that his father was a non-violent person who died while trying to stop someone's fight. Unaware of all this, Aditi makes her way to the international airport for departure to USA. Bhaloo and Bhageere, who are sons of an MLA, use their influence to get Jai free, following which, Jai rides a horse, borrowed from his cousin, and heads towards the airport to stop her. Thus, Jai fulfills all the three conditions to become a man in Rathore Clan, causing dismay to Jai's mother and delight to spirit of Jai's father(Naseeruddin Shah), as he had challenged Jai's mother that Jai will fulfill the conditions some day. He jumps over the security booths and runs, seeking for Aditi, while the Airport security chases him, supposing him to be a terrorist who ran away from security checks. He finds Aditi and sings the song – "Jaane tu ya jaane na" for her, which is the same song that Jai had said in the beginning he'd sing for the love of his life. Aditi, delighted, hugs him and cancels her US trip. Airport security cop Inspector Prakash, on finding that Jai is not a terrorist, lets him go, but with a warning.<br /><br />Rotlu, Jiggy, Bombs and Shaleen conclude the story and welcome Jai and Aditi, just returning from their honeymoon, at the airport. It is directed by Ketan Mehta, produced by Bobby Bedi, and with a screenplay by Farrukh Dhondy. This movie marked the comeback of Aamir Khan who went into a hiatus after Dil Chahta Hai released in 2001. The film was declared 'Hit' even though it took a decent start at the Box Office but the collections dipped eventually. The film was premiered in the Marché du Film section of the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.[2][3]<br /><br />Aamir Khan plays the lead role of Mangal Pandey who was a Sepoy whose actions helped spark the Indian rebellion of 1857. The rebellion is also known as "The First War of Indian Independence", "The Sepoy Mutiny" or "The Sepoy Rebellion".<br /><br /><br />The film begins in 1857, when India was ruled by the British East India Company. Mangal Pandey (Aamir Khan) is a sepoy, a soldier of Indian origin, in the army of the East India Company. Pandey is fighting in the Anglo-Afghan Wars and saves the life of his British commanding officer, William Gordon (portrayed by Toby Stephens). Gordon is indebted to Pandey and a strong friendship develops between them, transcending both rank and race.<br /><br />Gordon rescues a young widow, Jwala (Ameesha Patel), from committing Sati (the act of following her deceased husband on to the funeral pyre). Afterwards, he falls in love with her. Meanwhile, Heera (Rani Mukerji) has been sold into finance, to work for Lol Bibi (Kirron Kher). There is a spark of attraction between her and Pandey and a liaison follows.<br /><br />Gordon and Pandey's friendship is challenged following the introduction of a new rifle, the Enfield rifled musket. In reality as in the film, rumours began to spread among the sepoys that the paper cartridges that held the powder and ball for the rifle were greased with either pig fat or beef tallow. Since the process of loading the cartridge required the soldier to bite the cartridge open to pour in the loose powder, the soldiers believed that the process would require them to consume pork or beef – an act abhorrent to Muslim and Hindu soldiers, respectively, for religious reasons.[4]<br />At the end of the film, Pandey was executed, despite the protestations of Gordon, who reasons that Pandey will be revered as a martyr<br /><br />In the film, Gordon investigates, and is told to assure Pandey that the cartridges are free from pollution. Demonstrating his total trust in Gordon, Mangal bites the cartridge. But Pandey soon discovers that the cartridges really are greased by animal fat. The rumour of this imposed pollution is the spark that ignites the powder keg of resentment in the country. Mutiny breaks out, led by Pandey. At one point Pandey and Gordon become involved in direct hand-to-hand combat as the latter tries to dissuade the sepoy from what he believes to be a futile exercise that will lead to only death. However, the Company was prepared and brought in British army units from Rangoon and Pandey was captured and executed, despite the protestations of Gordon, who reasons that Pandey will be revered as a martyr and that his legacy will cause more uprising. This turns out to be correct; Mangal marries Heera in his jail cell before his execution as the film closes to scenes of nationwide revolt against British rule. Gordon is listed as having joined the rebellion against the Company Raj.<br /><br />The film ends with a montage of drawings of the historical rebellion and the narrator describes the progress of the Indian independence movement over the next century. The montage ends with documentary footage of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi leading the Indian National Congress during peaceful protests against British rule in the 1940s, eventually forcing an end to colonialism in the subcontinent.</span></span></b></span></div> </div> </div>
